Icy Weasel 1.0
A site doesn't work properly
Click the shield in the toolbar (or press Option-Command-P). From there you can, for that site only:
- turn off ad blocking, if a page is missing content or a button does nothing;
- switch JavaScript to Full speed, if a web app feels slow;
- allow pop-ups, if a sign-in or payment window doesn't open.
Your other sites keep their full protection.
A YouTube ad got through
YouTube changes how it delivers ads every few weeks. Please report it so the fix can ship quickly.
Installing
Open the downloaded disk image and drag Icy Weasel into Applications. To remove it, drag it to the Bin; your history and settings are in Library/Containers/com.icyweasel.browser in your home folder.
Using the page assistant
Click the sparkle button in the toolbar. The assistant finds AI models running on your Mac by itself: start Ollama (for example after ollama pull qwen3:8b), Bonsai's start_llama_server.sh, LM Studio's server or a similar tool, and its models appear in the menu at the top of the panel. If Ollama is installed but not running, the panel offers to start it. For Bonsai, add its start script once in Settings, AI, and the panel offers to start it too.
To use a cloud model instead, open Settings, choose AI, and add a provider with your own API key. The assistant asks before it sends a page to a cloud provider for the first time.
Saved passwords
After you sign in, Icy Weasel offers to save the password in your Mac's keychain. Next time, click the key in the address bar to fill it; nothing is filled until you click. Manage, show or delete passwords in Settings, Passwords (showing one asks for your Mac's password or Touch ID).
Google only syncs passwords inside Chrome. To move them over, export a CSV file from passwords.google.com, or from Safari with File, Export, Passwords, then use Import Passwords in Settings. Delete the CSV afterwards.
Report a problem or ask a question
Open an issue on GitHub. Include your macOS version, the Icy Weasel version (Icy Weasel menu, About Icy Weasel) and the address of the page if a site is involved.
